Danish manufacturer NKT has signed a pre-construction agreement (PCA) for the delivery and installation of the export cable system for the prospective Inch Cape offshore windfarm in the UK.

Located in the North Sea, off the east coast of Scotland, the windfarm is being developed by Red Rock Power subsidiary, Inch Cape Offshore Wind Farm Ltd.

NKT interim CEO Roland Andersen said: “Being the exclusive supplier of the export cable systems for the prospective Inch Cape offshore wind, confirms our forefront market position in the offshore wind segment.

“The current activity level within offshore wind supports our view that the business is picking up again on project awards and realisation.”

The company noted that the PCA was signed in a consortium with Boskalis Subsea Cables & Flexibles. PCA appoints the consortium as the exclusive supplier and installer for the export cable system.

Under the agreement, NKT will supply nearly 170km of 220kV AC offshore export cables, which will be manufactured at one of its two high-voltage power cable plants. Cable installation works will be carried out by Boskalis.
