Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy (SGRE) has secured a set of deals to provide 310 wind turbines to five onshore wind projects in the US.
The deals includes the delivery and installation of 92 units of the SWT-2.3-108, 144 SWT-2.625-120, and 74 G126-2.625MW turbines, which are capable of generating more than 780MW.
Upon completion, the projects are expected to produce enough clean electricity to power nearly 240,000 homes in the US.
SGRE will use its site in Hutchinson, Kansas, to assemble the SWT-2.3-108 and SWT-2.625-120 units.
The company also plans to produce turbine blades for the projects at its facility in Fort Madison, Iowa. Additional requirements will be fulfilled at the company’s other North America-based manufacturing sites.
SGRE Onshore CEO Ricardo Chocarro said: “These orders demonstrate the confidence that our customers have in our combined product offerings.
