Global technology company Siemens has signed a service agreement with Punjab Thermal Power (PTPL) in Pakistan to provide comprehensive maintenance, parts and repair services for Punjab Power Plant Jhang for the next 12 years.

Under the agreement, Siemens will offer its Power Diagnostics solution, which uses data analytics to predict downtime and improve power plant productivity by identifying operational challenges in the advanced stage.

With the help of this tool, the power plant team will be able to manage outages more efficiently.

Located in Haveli Bahadur Shah, Punjab Power Plant Jhang is said to be one the largest gas-fired, combined-cycle power plants in the country.

The plant is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s power grid with the addition of 1.3GW.

Siemens will also deploy two of its SGT5-8000H gas turbines at the power plant facility.

The order was received by the company last October and placed by the China Machinery Engineering (CMEC).

The Chinese firm is building the project as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor for PTPL.

As part of the agreement, Siemens will also be responsible for the scheduled and un-scheduled outage services for two SGT5-8000H gas turbines, generators and related auxiliaries, as well as the supply of spare parts and field services.
