Andhra Pradesh’s State Investment Promotion Board (SIPB), headed by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, has granted approval for the project.
The ingots and wafers plant aims to strengthen India’s domestic manufacturing capabilities and lessen reliance on imports for essential solar and semiconductor components.
The facility will be located in the IFFCO Kisan Special Economic Zone, where the Andhra Pradesh Government has allocated 200 acres, comprising 120 acres for the initial phase and 80 for future expansion.
This development is expected to create approximately 1,000 direct jobs, along with substantial indirect employment during its construction and related activities.

By GlobalDataTPREL will also develop a 200MW captive green power plant to provide renewable energy for the facility’s operations.
This initiative represents TPREL’s inaugural manufacturing venture in Andhra Pradesh, aligning with its broader renewable energy expansion in the region.
In a related development, TP Solar, a wholly owned subsidiary of TPREL, reported production of 2.8GW of domestic content requirement (DCR) solar cells and 2.9GW of solar modules between April 2025 and December 2025.
This module output comprised 2.4GW of DCR-compliant modules and 500MW of modules listed under the approved list of models and manufacturers (ALMM).
TP Solar operates a major 4.3GW solar cell and module manufacturing plant in Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, which utilises advanced TOPCon and Mono PERC technologies to produce ALMM-certified and DCR modules.
In November last year, TPREL commissioned National Hydroelectric Power Corporation’s landmark solar power project at Karnisar Bhatiyan, Bikaner, in the state of Rajasthan.
