Scotland’s Smarter Grid Solutions (SGS) has entered into a new enterprise licence deal with the UK’s electricity distribution utility Western Power Distribution (WPD).
As per the terms of the deal, WPD will deploy SGS’s Active Network Management (ANM) Strata software across its entire network area in South Wales, the South West and the East and West Midlands.
SGS ANM Strata is a distributed energy resource management system (DERMS) software platform, which has been designed for a wide-area coordination and real-time control.
With the implementation of ANM Strata across its network, WPD intends to manage network hosting capacity, implement flexibility services, deploy microgrids and optimise grid operations.
ANM Strata will enable smarter control and quicker connection of renewable energy assets in each of WPD’s network regions.
Additionally, ANM Strata provides a platform for advanced distribution system operator (DSO) functionality.
