UK-based utility consultancy Utilitywise has revealed that its research team has correctly predicted all three ‘Triads’ for the 2017-2018 winter period when the demand was at its highest.

The announcement was made by the company after National Grid has released the ‘Triad’ results for the 2017-2018 winter periods.

The consultancy claims that its team have successfully identified the three specific half-hourly periods that occurred on 11 December last year, as well as on 5 and 26 February this year.

Utilitywise explained that its customers were alerted ahead of time through its Triad Alert Service and helped them in reducing electricity transmission charges.

“Whilst this is a proud moment for Utilitywise, what gives us most pleasure is the fact that we’ve been able to save our customers tens of thousands of pounds.”

During the winter season, Utilitywise provides Triad Alert Service to its customers and advise them on measures to avoid high-Triad charges.

The ‘Red Alert’ indicates its customers to reduce their power usage at their place.

Utilitywise senior market intelligence analyst Paul Anderson said: “We’re delighted to have correctly predicted all three Triads with only 16 alerts sent in total, just nine of which were Red Alerts. It’s a testament to our in-house technology, analytics and expertise.

“Whilst this is a proud moment for Utilitywise, what gives us most pleasure is the fact that we’ve been able to save our customers tens of thousands of pounds.”

The consultancy firm further added that Triad alerts can be crucial for businesses with half-hourly metered sites, as their annual electricity transmission costs are directly linked to their scale of demand.
