The latest contract awards are part of the state’s aim to generate 70% of its electricity from renewable resources.
Formed in 2021, Hydro Rein has a pipeline of 6.9GW of renewable energy projects under development.
Located in the Atacama and Antofagasta regions, the portfolio will generate one terawatt-hour of clean energy annually.
Electricity from the project will be sold in the Pennsylvania-New Jersey-Maryland market and will power a million homes.
Four small modular reactors (SMRs) are scheduled to be built in Ontario.
The financing has been provided by JP Morgan Chase, Bank of America and Wells Fargo.
The renewables business has been renamed Deriva Energy and will continue to operate from Charlotte, North Carolina.
