The units that will close are located at the Grevenbroich-Neurath and Bergheim-Niederaussem sites in the Rhineland.
Acquired by Holtec in 2022, the 800MW project will produce baseload power until at least 2051.
The 500km transmission link will stretch from Peterhead in Aberdeenshire to Drax in North Yorkshire.
The move comes as the US seeks to lessen its dependence on Russian fuel imports.
The deal includes natural gas-fired power plants in Corpus Christi and Laredo.
The company has 1GW of green projects under ownership, management or in development in the country.
Lanco Amarkantak Power is a 1.92GW coal-based thermal power project in the Korba district, Chhattisgarh.
