GlobalData forecasts steady expansion of conventional hydropower and rapid growth in pumped storage as India reshapes its electricity system around flexibility rather than baseload generation.
Once completed, the project is expected to be able to supply electricity to approximately 300,000 homes.
RWE expects to complete the installation of the remaining 36 turbines by the end of 2026.
The project forms part of Crown Estate Scotland’s ScotWind leasing initiative.
The portfolio consists of two neighbouring stand-alone BESS projects, one with a capacity of 160MW/four hours and the other with 100MW/four hours.
The deal will supply around 35GWh a year, covering roughly 8% of DHL Group’s electricity demand in Germany and supporting its broader decarbonisation strategy.
