Nuclear power plant operators across the world are using remote assessment methods to review plant operations because of the Covid-19 pandemic. Participants in a recent IAEA webinar said the pandemic has led to the development of new methods of remotely assessing systems, structures and components, and suppliers.
The Government of Maharashtra in India has announced plans to set up three solar power projects with a total capacity of 602MW. The renewable energy projects will be set up in three phases in the Vidarbha region of the state.
Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy has received a five-year contract to service the German offshore wind farm Trianel Windpark Borkum II. The scope of the contract includes options for fixed extensions. The company will work from an operational base in Borkum, with maintenance work expected to start on 1 August this year.
Egyptian Electricity Holding Company has awarded Schneider Electric a $278m (€254m) contract to convert its electric distribution network into a future-ready smart grid. The agreement requires Schneider Electric to build four control centres to monitor and optimise the network. It will also set up more than 12,000 smart ring main units across the national network within the next 18 months.
