The Government of South Africa has cancelled an ‘emergency’ exemption permit to sail up to five floating gas-burning power ships into local harbours. Turkish company Karpowership group received permission under Section 30A of the National Environment Management Act.

Pattern Energy has concluded financing and began construction of its 105MW DC Phoenix Solar Project in Fannin County, Texas. The project, which is expected to be completed in mid-2021, has a 12-year power purchase agreement with Digital Realty, a provider of data center, colocation and interconnection solutions.

JERA plans to construct an offshore wind farm off Ishikari Bay, in Hokkaido, Japan. The proposed facility will include up to 65 wind turbines with a generation capacity of 520MW. The company has submitted its Planning Phase Environmental Impact Statement for the offshore wind farm project to the Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry.

Amazon has announced plans to build a 115MW wind farm project in Ardderroo, Ireland. The company aims to be 100% powered by renewable energy by 2025. The wind farm will begin operating in 2022, and is expected to feature around 27 turbines.
