Brazil’s CPFL Energia has acquired 100% of wind power firm Jantus from a group including Liberty Mutual Insurance Company and a unit of Citicorp.

CPFL Energia purchased the firm for BRL950m ($597m) and will also take care of Jantus’ net debt of $338m.

CPFL also has the option to buy another wind power unit named Jantus II, for $43.5m.

Jantus controls SIIF Energies do Brasil and SIIF Desenvolvimento de Projetos de Energia Eolica, which own 210MW of wind projects in Ceara, Brazil.

The firms also holds generation projects of 135MW capacity in Rio de Janeiro.
