Wood Group GTS has replaced the original controls system with an open-architecture system that will enable CWL to access and configure the turbine to meet fluctuating power demands.

Because the new system, built on an open architecture provided by Rockwell Automation, is easy to service, it also provides CWL with the ability to perform maintenance in-house.

"Wood Group GTS’s solutions provide us with the independence and self-sufficiency to configure our control system and make site-specific modifications without having to call in outside support," said a CWL spokesperson.

"This open-architecture controls solution for LM6000 gas turbines empowers operators to quickly and inexpensively adapt plant and equipment to meet new power demands," stated Frank Avery of Wood Group GTS. "Our extensive control system experience, combined with proven Rockwell Automation PlantPAx™ technology, provides a safe, easily supported and reliable upgrade solution for our customers."

The upgrade at CWL’s Jonesboro facility is one of over 500 controls system installations performed by Wood Group GTS.
