The new leasing round is expected to support Scotland’s ambitious Net Zero targets while enhancing the offshore wind supply chain.

Earlier this month, CES announced that as part of the ScotWind Leasing process, applicants will have to provide a supply chain development statement, containing the anticipated level and location of supply chain impact from their proposed project.

CES further added that the statement will be part of the initial application for seabed rights and would be shared with the Scottish government and enterprise agencies.

The closing date for applications to the leasing round will come after finalising the Sectoral Marine Plan for Commercial Scale Offshore Wind.

CES said: “While this process will be set out at the launch in the ScotWind Leasing Offer Document, we want to give the offshore wind sector more clarity around what may be involved.”

It is also considering the potential consequences that will be established when the applicant fails to meet the terms mentioned in the statement.

The measures will offer applicants the chance to identify joint opportunities and develop supply chain networks.

In January 2018, CES launched a study to assess the potential economic benefits of developing new floating wind projects.
