Looking at global power tenders activity divided by the type of technology, solar held the second position in terms of number of tenders during Q3 2021 with a 39.2% share.

The proportion of tenders by category in the Solar technology tracked by GlobalData in the quarter was as follows:

  1. Project Implementation: 297 tenders and a 75.2% share
  2. Supply & Erection: 38 tenders and a 9.6% share
  3. Consulting & Similar Services: 26 tenders and a 6.6% share
  4. Repair, Maintenance, Upgrade & Others: 18 tenders and a 4.6% share
  5. Power Purchase Agreement: 12 tenders and a 3% share
  6. Electricity Supply: four tenders and a 1% share.

Comparing tenders activity in solar technology in different regions of the globe, Asia-Pacific held the top position with 119 tenders and a share of 30.1% during Q3 2021, followed by Europe with 104 tenders and a 26.3% share and Middle East and Africa with 102 tenders and a 25.8% share.

In fourth place was North America with 56 tenders and a 14.2% share and in fifth place was South and Central America with 14 tenders and a 3.5% share.

The top issuers of tenders in Solar technology for the quarter in terms of power capacity involved were:

  1. Ministere de l’Environnement, de l’Energie et de la Mer (France): 17,325MW from 34 tenders
  2. Russian Association of Wind Power Industry (Russia): 6,700MW from one tender
