RESS is designed to incentivise renewable electricity generation to help the country meet the EU's renewable energy and decarbonisation targets by 2030.

RESS features various opportunities that can be explored for micro and small-scale generation. It has been developed on the basis of the EU State Aid Guidelines, which support competitive auctions and bidding between project developers for state support.
Ireland Communications, Climate Action, and Environment Minister Denis Naughten said: “The scale of transformation needed to meet our low-carbon transition targets cannot be overstated.
“If we are to reach those targets, we must harness the combined efforts of the entire country. Industry, of course, has a key role to play in bringing to market technology options that deliver, at scale, solutions to minimise and manage costs for households and businesses alike.
