GE Vernova has been awarded a contract by Lincoln Electric System (LES) to supply two LM6000VELOX aeroderivative gas turbine packages for the Terry Bundy Generating Station (TBGS) in Lincoln, Nebraska.
The project will add roughly 100MW of generation capacity to meet the region’s growing electricity demand.
Scheduled for commercial operation in 2029, the expanded plant will benefit from the high efficiency and fast-start capability of the LM6000VELOX design, which can reach full power in around ten minutes. The upgrade supports LES’ long-term supply strategy to strengthen local grid reliability and operational flexibility.

The project extends a two-decade collaboration between GE Vernova and LES, following earlier aeroderivative unit installations at the same site. LES vice-president of power supply Jason Fortik said the company’s confidence in the technology stems from its proven reliability and efficiency record.
Nebraska’s power generation portfolio remains diverse, with coal accounting for roughly 43% of electricity output in 2024 and wind power representing around 32%. The new turbines are expected to enhance flexibility within this energy mix while enabling more dependable capacity during peak periods.
GE Vernova’s Gas Power CEO Dave Ross said the project highlights the partnership’s focus on community-driven power solutions. With more than 1,300 LM6000 turbines shipped globally and over 40 million operating hours, GE Vernova continues to expand its role in delivering generation technology.
