Amazon has reportedly entered into long-term agreements to purchase nearly 200MW of electricity from four wind farms in Sweden.

The deals, involving projects originally developed by Eolus and OX2, are intended to support growing power demand at the company’s data centres in the country, reported Bloomberg, citing an email sent by Amazon.

Once all projects are operational, Amazon’s total wind energy capacity in Sweden will approach 1GW.

Three of the wind farms, including Boarp, Dållebo and Fågelås, are already generating electricity, while the largest site, Fageråsen, is still under construction.

Amazon noted that its Swedish data centre sites in Eskilstuna, Katrineholm, and Västerås are expected to benefit from the new supply.

The company stated that “capacity will be added across all three locations” as demand rises.

The 1GW of wind power could supply electricity equivalent to more than 350,000 households annually, though it did not disclose specific details of the latest agreements.

In 2025, Amazon was the largest private purchaser of fossil-free energy in Sweden.

The company has invested in over 700 renewable energy projects globally, representing more than 40GW of capacity, and over 260 projects across Europe.

This expansion comes as Amazon, along with other large-scale technology companies, seeks to secure greater electricity resources to power artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud services.

Separately in December 2025, Eolus completed the sale of the onshore wind farms Fågelås, Dållebo, and Boarp to Mirova, part of Natixis Investment Managers, which focuses on sustainable investment.

Through the transaction, Mirova has taken full ownership of the three sites, equipped with Vestas turbines and covered by a 15-year power purchase agreement (PPA) that includes a significant share of their annual output.

Alongside the acquisition, Eolus and Mirova have signed a 15-year asset management deal and have agreed to collaborate on the development of battery energy storage systems at each wind farm location.
