Wood Group GTS has secured a contract for the upgrade of plant controls on five hydroelectric units at a generating station in Kentucky.

The work scope involves replacement of outdated equipment with modern PLC-based controls to upgrade hardware and software to ensure compatibility across all the generating units at this site. Work will commence immediately and should be completed on or before December 2014.

"Confirmation of this award reinforces our position as a key power generation controls solution provider and will ensure continuity and reliability of service from this important generating asset," said Frank Avery, president of Power Plant Services at Wood Group GTS.
