Wood Group Power Operations, Inc. (“WGPO”), part of the Gas Turbine Services Division of John Wood Group PLC (“Wood Group”), has been awarded a long term, $19.5 million power plant services contract with Kings River Conservation District (“KRCD”) at the customer’s simple-cycle peaking power station in Fresno, California.
Under the contract, which combines both routine Operations and Maintenance (O&M) and major maintenance, WGPO will provide mobilization, start-up assistance, continued plant O&M services and scheduled major maintenance services for two LM6000 gas turbines and generators in operation at the Fresno site.
Frank Avery, President of WGPO, said: “KRCD is another example of the value proposition that WGPO can offer. Through leveraging of the broader capabilities within Wood Group Gas Turbine Services, we can create a flexible, value added solution for power plant management that aligns the client’s performance goals with our core capabilities.”
Jack Sinor, Assistant General Manager for KRCD, said: “WGPO demonstrated throughout the entire contracting process that their O&M services were uniquely different to those of other service provides. They were able to bring solutions for O&M, inventory management and major maintenance together in a complete offering and on a very competitive basis. In the end, the value offered was more than we have seen in the industry from other providers.”
The KRCD project is the latest addition to the WGPO portfolio of contract successes, and represents the company’s commitment to bringing a uniquely different solution to the third party power generation O&M market.
