The Gas Turbine Services Division (GTS) of international energy services company, John Wood Group (Wood Group), has been awarded a turnkey contract, valued at approximately $36 million, by East Texas Electric Cooperative (ETEC) to construct and commission ETEC’s San Jacinto Generating Facility near Shepherd, Texas.

Wood Group Power Solutions (WGPS), part of GTS, achieved this contract as a result of a competitive tender that was issued by ETEC in the fall of 2007, for the first of two generating stations that are to be fully owned by ETEC.

Based on increasing demand in ETEC’s service territory and a supply agreement set to expire in 2009, ETEC identified a need for additional generation capacity and selected WGPS as its contractor for the installation of approximately 320MW of generating capacity, which is expected to come on line at two separate project locations.

The San Jacinto plant will be constructed on a fast-track basis, in order to meet electricity demands commencing with the 2009 peak season. The plant will include two General Electric Frame 7EA gas turbine generators, purchased by ETEC earlier this year, operating in simple cycle configuration to be relocated from an existing facility in Mississippi.
