MESAR/ENVIRONAIR (M/E) is a technology integrating company, specialising in air pollution control systems and energy efficiency. We design specific solutions for industrial atmospheric problems, such as odour treatment, NCG chemical oxidation, biogas desulphurisation and dehydration, H2S and SO2 absorption, wet scrubbers and energy recovery systems.

We offer a recognised expertise in the treatment of particles, gases and odours across a large number of industries. The technology we design allows our customers to meet the most demanding environmental standards. The quality and the efficiency of our systems improve the green credentials of those we provide services for, which also results in significant energy savings.

TRS and NCG gas treatment system for the power industry

M/E brings safe and efficient techniques and technologies for non-condensable gas (NCG) system from KRAFT pulping process. We have developed a proven expertise, in addition to processing chemically oxidised NCG at low capital and operation costs.

The amount of reduced sulphur (TRS) chemical oxidation treatment of a diluted NCG system, from injecting a fresh solution of chlorine dioxide or the capture of residual oxidiser vapours from bleaching alkaline scrubber, has been successfully implemented in many kraft mills. The more the NCG is diluted and the greater the increase in flow, the more cost-effective the chemical oxidation proves to be.

In addition, our experienced team can perform the MACT1 study for kraft mills, as well as design the smelt dissolving tank vent of recovery boilers. We can provide the supply and engineering of an SO2 scrubbing system in the treatment of exhaust gas emissions from boilers, which it can send towards another location for CO2 enrichment.

Flue gas heat recovery system

M/E’s direct contact heat exchanger is a two-in-one solution, which contributes to the energy optimisation strategy of a mill and reduces atmospheric emissions. Our heat exchangers also remove several condensable gases, such as methanol and other volatile organic compounds (VOC) from the air stream. Exhaust gases coming from the dryer of panel board plants (OSB, MDF) can be redirected to a new direct contact condenser to recover the energy. This power can then be sent back to a specified location, such as reheating water for the wood soaking ponds.

Our flue gas heat recovery system (FGHR) is used on considerable amounts of recoverable energy waste, which would otherwise be emitted into the atmosphere. Once it has been captured it can then be used for other purposes.

Packed tower scrubbing systems

Our packed tower scrubbing systems can control odour emissions coming from various locations, such as food processing, municipal, petrochemical and chemical plants. In our experience, odour treatment requires a specific and customised approach, which must be adapted to suit each problem. We can do our own odour characterisation through a trial with a pilot unit or in-situ. Many scrubber systems have been designed for benzoic acid, as well as bromine and bromic acid produced by chemical plants.

Engineering for desulphurisation, drying and valorisation systems

M/E can provide engineering for desulphurisation, drying and valorisation systems for biogases produced by wastewater facilities (anaerobic process) and chemical plants or extracted from landfill plants. Our solutions are based on chemical oxidation technologies and all our implementations emphasise the simplicity, the efficient performance and the low operating costs of this chemical alternative in comparison to more traditional approaches for removal of H2S contaminants.
