Wood Group Wins Long Term Maintenance Contract In Germany

Wood Group Heavy Industrial Turbines (WGHIT), part of the Gas Turbine Services Division of international energy services company, John Wood Group PLC ("Wood Group"), has been awarded a long term contract by Thüringer Energie AG ("TEAG"), part of the E.ON group, to provide maintenance services for three General Electric 6541B gas turbines and associated generators and auxiliaries, plus two steam turbine generators, at the Jena cogeneration plant in Thuringia, Germany.

Valued at approximately EUROS 10 million, this contract brings to more than 60, the number of heavy industrial gas turbines under long term maintenance contracts worldwide with Wood Group. The services, to be provided by Z.TEC Energy Service GmbH in Germany, which is part of WGHIT, cover planned maintenance activities, including the supply of spare parts and component repair for the three turbines and five generators.

Ulrich Zumbusch, Managing Director of Z.TEC, said: "With this contract we have strengthened our position as the leading maintenance partner for Frame 6B gas turbines in Germany."

Michael Schmidt, Director for TEAG’s cogeneration plants, said: "We were greatly encouraged by Z.TEC’s excellent references and are pleased to have a reliable and cost-effective service alternative to the Original Equipment Manufacturer."
