Wood Group GTS has finished $3m of multi-system icon control system upgrades on Pratt & Whitney FT4, GE LM2500 and Solar Centaur gas turbines.

Optimizing operating costs is driving plant and asset managers to rethink previous commitments to proprietary original equipment manufacturers’ (OEMs’) purpose-built control systems. Wood Group GTS’ icon control system enables gas turbine owners and operators to upgrade their technology with a flexible and customizable open-architecture controls platform.

"To maximize our customers’ success, we provide a proven open platform that empowers operators to be self-sufficient now and into the future," said Frank Avery, president of Wood Group GTS Power Plant Services. "Our extensive rotating equipment controls experience, coupled with Rockwell Automation’s technology and global sourcing channels, generates the lowest on-going service and support costs and maximizes availability for our customers."

Wood Group GTS has completed more than 600 turbomachinery icon control retrofits on a diverse and global range of platforms and auxiliary systems.

Icon control system upgrades are a part of Wood Group GTS’s overall products and services designed to maximize the return on our customer’s investment in gas turbine technology.
