August 2021 has seen a decrease of 2.34% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 9.59% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2021, registering an increase of 0.52% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Europe with a share of 56.77% in August 2021, a 2.75% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 13.85% in August 2021, marking a 37.88% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 10.05% in August 2021, a 7.04% drop from July 2021.

Top five power companies in Europe’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 29.51% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Europe’s power industry during August 2021 over previous month.

Siemens posted 151 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered an increase of 4.14% over the previous month, followed by Companhia de Transmissao de Energia Eletrica Paulista with 87 jobs and a 135.14% growth. Umicore with 72 IT jobs and Vestas Wind Systems with 45 jobs, recorded a 30.91% rise and a 6.25% drop, respectively, while E.ON recorded a 100% increase with 40 job postings during August 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Europe’s power industry

Germany commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 30.44% share in August 2021, a 43.88% increase over July 2021. The UK featured next with a 14.16% share, flat growth over the previous month. Belgium recorded an 11.11% share, a growth of 25.86% compared with July 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 70.62%, up by 3.8% from July 2021. Entry Level positions with a 15.37% share, registered a growth of 31.17% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 13.09% share, down 11.34% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.91%, recording a month-on-month decline of 25%.
