Notably, corporate governance was one of the most frequently referenced themes in Q2 2023, ranking highest in terms of mentions, ahead of individualism & expression and personalization, according to GlobalData.
Of the top leading companies in the power industry, Enel had the greatest increase in references for corporate governance in Q2 2023, compared with the previous quarter. GlobalData identified 361 corporate governance-related sentences in the company's filings - 5% of all sentences - and a decrease of 53% in Q2 2023 compared with Q2 2022. Tenaga Nasional’s mentions of corporate governance rose by 14% to 346 and Adani Transmission’s by 1141% to 211 and Xylem’s by 1194% to 207 and China Resources Power’s by 5% to 197.
GlobalData’s Company Filings Analytics also applies sentiment weight to reference sentences, based on whether the sentences are positive, negative, or neutral. Starting at 100 in 2020, an index over 100 is more positive. The overall index for corporate governance in Q2 2023 was 109.
