Notably, energy transition was one of the most frequently referenced themes in Q2 2023, ranking highest in terms of mentions, ahead of cloud and robotics, according to GlobalData.
Of the top leading companies in the power industry, Enel had the greatest increase in references for energy transition in Q2 2023, compared with the previous quarter. GlobalData identified 1050 energy transition-related sentences in the company's filings - 15% of all sentences - and a decrease of 21% in Q2 2023 compared with Q2 2022. Adani Green Energy’s mentions of energy transition rose by 50450% to 1011 and Edison International’s by 52% to 404 and Xcel Energy’s by 0.75% to 395 and Avangrid’s by 36% to 368.
GlobalData’s Company Filings Analytics also applies sentiment weight to reference sentences, based on whether the sentences are positive, negative, or neutral. Starting at 100 in 2020, an index over 100 is more positive. The overall index for energy transition in Q2 2023 was 113.
