Management Occupations drive electric vehicles-related hiring activity
Management Occupations, with a share of 16%, emerged as the top electric vehicles-related job roles within the power industry in Q4 2023, with new job postings drop by 38% quarter-on-quarter. Architecture and Engineering Occupations came in second with a share of 15% in Q4 2023, with new job postings dropping by 2% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent electric vehicles roles include Computer and Mathematical Occupations with a 14% share in Q4 2023, Business and Financial Operations Occupations with a 11% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in power industry accounted for 34% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q4 2023 were Electricite de France, Centrica, Envision Energy, Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust, and Umicore. Together they accounted for a combined share of 34% of all electric vehicles-related new jobs in the power industry.
Electricite de France posted 116 electric vehicles-related new jobs in Q4 2023, Centrica 69 jobs, Envision Energy 56 jobs, Octopus Renewables Infrastructure Trust 52 jobs, and Umicore 42 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the UK with a 39.26% share of total new job postings, Q4 2023
The largest share of electric vehicles-related new job postings in the power industry in Q4 2023 was in the UK with 39.26% followed by the US (27.71%) and Canada (7.67%). The share represented by the UK was three percentage points higher than the 36.39% share it accounted for in Q3 2023.
