Architecture and Engineering Occupations drive future of work-related hiring activity
Architecture and Engineering Occupations, with a share of 13%, emerged as the top future of work-related job roles within the power industry in Q2 2024, with new job postings rising by 10% quarter-on-quarter. Computer and Mathematical Occupations came in second with a share of 11% in Q2 2024, with new job postings dropping by 7% over the previous quarter.
The other prominent future of work roles include Installation, Maintenance, and Repair Occupations with a 10% share in Q2 2024, Management Occupations with a 9% share of new job postings.
Top five companies in power industry accounted for 25% of hiring activity
The top companies, in terms of number of new job postings tracked by GlobalData, as of Q2 2024 were Duquesne Light, Hitachi Energy, Schneider Electric, Republic Services, and NextEra Energy. Together they accounted for a combined share of 25% of all future of work-related new jobs in the power industry.
Duquesne Light posted 1,012 future of work-related new jobs in Q2 2024, Hitachi Energy 643 jobs, Schneider Electric 492 jobs, Republic Services 373 jobs, and NextEra Energy 281 jobs, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics.
Hiring activity was driven by the US with a 62.86% share of total new job postings, Q2 2024
The largest share of future of work-related new job postings in the power industry in Q2 2024 was in the US with 62.86% followed by India (7.00%) and the UK (3.51%). The share represented by the US was five percentage points higher than the 58.11% share it accounted for in Q1 2024.
