North America witnessed a 1.5% rise in IT hiring activity in the power industry in July 2021 compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics index.
July 2021 has seen an increase of 1.61% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 7.25% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2021, registering an increase of 0.18% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 40.8% in July 2021, a 13.71% drop over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 18.41% in July 2021, marking a 3.4% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 14.78% in July 2021, an 8.56% drop from June 2021.
Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 14.61% in July 2021, a 12.67% rise over the previous month.
Top five power companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in July 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 1.01% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s power industry during July 2021 over previous month.
Siemens posted 117 IT jobs in July 2021 and registered an increase of 42.68% over the previous month, followed by NextEra Energy with 102 jobs and a 20.31% drop. PG&E with 79 IT jobs and Vivint Smart Home with 60 jobs, recorded a 41.04% decline and a flat growth, respectively, while Schneider Electric recorded a 19.61% decline with 41 job postings during July 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s power industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 93.17% share in July 2021, a 5.69% decline over June 2021. Canada featured next with a 4.58% share, down 15.87% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 2.25% share, a drop of 3.7% compared with June 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 51.6%, down by 9.41% from June 2021. Mid Level positions with a 29.65% share, a decline of 13.38% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 18.15% share, up 28.05% over June 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.61%, recording a month-on-month decline of 50%.
