August 2021 has seen an increase of 5.28% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2021.
IT jobs accounted for a 7.6% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2021, registering an increase of 0.21% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2021
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 44.39% in August 2021, a 19.02% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 16.55% in August 2021, marking a 1.88% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 13.88% in August 2021, a 5.81% rise from July 2021.

Top five power companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 16.1% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s power industry during August 2021 over previous month.
NextEra Energy posted 142 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered an increase of 37.86% over the previous month, followed by Siemens with 100 jobs and a 20% drop. PG&E with 59 IT jobs and Schneider Electric with 59 jobs, recorded a 27.16% drop and a 47.5% rise, respectively, while Companhia de Transmissao de Energia Eletrica Paulista recorded a 920% increase with 51 job postings during August 2021.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s power industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 95.88% share in August 2021, a 13.04% increase over July 2021. Canada featured next with a 3.97% share, up 6.12% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.15% share, a drop of 92.31% compared with July 2021.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021
Junior Level jobs held a share of 53.7%, up by 14.29% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 27.61% share, registered a growth of 3.43% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 18.54% share, up 13.55% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.15%, recording a month-on-month decline of 71.43%.
