US power industry IT recruitment activity rises 8.3% in August 2021

The US’s power industry registered an 8.3% rise in IT hiring activity in August 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 5.58% in August 2021 when compared with July 2021.

Out of the power industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 7.54% share in August 2021, recording an increase of 0.2% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in the US’s power industry’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 97.06% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s power industry in August 2021.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 43.91% in August 2021, registering a 21.59% flat growth over the previous month.

2) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations claimed a 16.31% share, an increase of 3.02% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 14.08%, registering a 7.27% rise from July 2021.

4) Database and Network Administrators and Architects captured a share of 13.44%, up 2.42% over the previous month.

Top five power companies in the US’s IT recruitment activity in August 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average growth of 20.67% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the US’s power industry during August 2021 over July 2021.

NextEra Energy posted 142 IT jobs in August 2021 and registered a rise of 37.86% over the previous month, followed by Siemens with 87 jobs and a 19.44% drop. PG&E with 59 IT jobs and Schneider Electric with 58 jobs, recorded a 27.16% decline and an 81.25% flat growth, respectively, while Companhia de Transmissao de Energia Eletrica Paulista recorded an increase of 920% with 51 job postings during August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 53.38%, up by 19.18% from July 2021. Mid Level positions with a 27.45% share, registered an increase of 2.37% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 19.01% share, up 16.02% over July 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.16%, recording a month-on-month decline of 71.43%.
