Bat echolocation inspires crack detection

Mathematicians at the University of Strathclyde in Scotland have taken influence from nature to build an ultrasound sensor capable of detecting cracks in nuclear power plants. The device, the first of its kind, overcomes the limits of other devices usually used in maintenance, and could make inspection easier and cheaper.
