Asia-Pacific witnessed an 11.9% drop in IT hiring activity in the power industry in November 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

November 2022 has seen a decrease of 10.13% in the overall hiring activity when compared with October 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 14.16% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in November 2022, registering a decrease of 0.65% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in November 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 53.77% in November 2022, a 15.35% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 19.18% in November 2022, marking a 23.75% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 11.95% in November 2022, a 30.91% drop from October 2022.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 11.32% in November 2022, a 5.26% decline over the previous month.

Top five power companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 10.09% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s power industry during November 2022 over previous month.

Siemens posted 135 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered an increase of 5.47% over the previous month, followed by Schneider Electric with 28 jobs and a 50% drop. Siemens Energy with 18 IT jobs and Vestas Wind Systems with 14 jobs, recorded a 200% rise and a 33.33% drop, respectively, while Umicore recorded a 41.18% decline with 10 job postings during November 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s power industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 58.18% share in November 2022, a 19.57% decrease over October 2022. Australia featured next with an 11.64% share, down 22.92% over the previous month. China recorded a 9.43% share, a drop of 33.33% compared with October 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 60.06%, down by 19.07% from October 2022. Mid Level positions with a 27.67% share, registered a decline of 19.27% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.32% share, down 23.4% over October 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.94%, recording a month-on-month decline of 66.67%.
