Asia-Pacific witnessed a 5.3% drop in IT hiring activity in the power industry in March 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.
March 2022 has seen a decrease of 2.81% in the overall hiring activity when compared with February 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 21.59% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in March 2022, registering a decrease of 0.37% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in March 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 75.15% in March 2022, a 0.82% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 9.57% in March 2022, marking a 42.42% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 7.13% in March 2022, a 35.19% drop from February 2022.
Computer Support Specialists registered a share of 4.48% in March 2022, a 24.14% decline over the previous month.
Top five power companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in March 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 17.34% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s power industry during March 2022 over previous month.
Siemens posted 169 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered a decline of 19.14% over the previous month, followed by Schneider Electric with 81 jobs and a 10.99% drop. Vestas Wind Systems with 28 jobs, recorded a 7.69% rise, while Snowy Hydro recorded a 50% decline with 23 job postings during March 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s power industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 60.9% share in March 2022, a 5.68% decrease over February 2022. Australia featured next with an 11.61% share, down 40.63% over the previous month. China recorded a 7.54% share, a growth of 23.33% compared with February 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in March 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 65.17%, down by 2.14% from February 2022. Mid Level positions with a 24.85% share, registered a decline of 4.69% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 9.57% share, up 20.51% over February 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.41%, recording a month-on-month decline of 50%.
