IT jobs accounted for an 11.56% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in May 2022, registering a decrease of 1.41% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 66.33% in May 2022, an 8.84% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 13.8% in May 2022, marking a 10.81% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 9.43% in May 2022, a 6.67% drop from April 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 9.39% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s power industry during May 2022 over previous month.
Siemens posted 146 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered a decline of 5.81% over the previous month, followed by Schneider Electric with 51 jobs and a 24.39% growth. Vestas Wind Systems with 18 IT jobs and ChargePoint Holdings with 9 jobs, recorded a 12.5% rise and a flat growth, respectively, while Origin Energy recorded an 800% increase with 9 job postings during May 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s power industry
India commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 71.04% share in May 2022, a 0.48% increase over April 2022. Australia featured next with a 10.44% share, up 121.43% over the previous month. China recorded a 6.06% share, a flat growth compared with April 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 66.67%, up by 9.39% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 24.58% share, registered a growth of 7.35% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 7.74% share, down 4.17% over April 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.01%, recording a month-on-month decline of 40%.
