Asia-Pacific witnessed a 6.7% drop in IT hiring activity in the power industry in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

October 2022 has seen a decrease of 6.9% in the overall hiring activity when compared with September 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 14.52% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in October 2022, registering a decrease of 0.5% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in October 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 50.64% in October 2022, an 18.18% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 20.2% in October 2022, marking a 27.52% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 13.55% in October 2022, a 65.63% rise from September 2022.

Computer and Information Analysts registered a share of 9.21% in October 2022, a 16.13% rise over the previous month.

Top five power companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 6.33% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s power industry during October 2022 over previous month.

Siemens posted 128 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a decline of 21.95% over the previous month, followed by Schneider Electric with 56 jobs and a 36.59% growth. Vestas Wind Systems with 21 IT jobs and Umicore with 17 jobs, recorded an 110% rise and a 1600% rise, respectively, while AGL Energy recorded a 160% increase with 13 job postings during October 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s power industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 58.57% share in October 2022, a 21.84% decrease over September 2022. Australia featured next with an 11.51% share, up 12.5% over the previous month. China recorded an 11.25% share, a drop of 31.25% compared with September 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 58.82%, down by 21.5% from September 2022. Mid Level positions with a 27.37% share, registered a decline of 15.08% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.51% share, up 18.42% over September 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 2.3%, recording a month-on-month flat growth.
