December 2021 has seen an increase of 2% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 21.35% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering an increase of 0.21% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 71.8% in December 2021, a 30.56% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 10.97% in December 2021, marking a 19.23% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 9.92% in December 2021, a 36.67% drop from November 2021.

Top five power companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 20.6% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s power industry during December 2021 over previous month.

Siemens posted 160 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered an increase of 16.79% over the previous month, followed by Schneider Electric with 67 jobs and a flat growth. Landis+Gyr Group with 28 IT jobs and Snowy Hydro with 21 jobs, recorded a 66.27% drop and a 65.57% drop, respectively, while Vestas Wind Systems recorded a 19.05% decline with 17 job postings during December 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s power industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 68.93% share in December 2021, a 14.84% decrease over November 2021. Australia featured next with a 12.01% share, down 57.01% over the previous month. China recorded an 8.88% share, a drop of 33.33% compared with November 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 49.61%, down by 34.71% from November 2021. Mid Level positions with a 32.64% share, registered a decline of 32.07% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 16.97% share, down 18.75% over November 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.78%, recording a month-on-month growth of 200%.
