Asia-Pacific witnessed a 2.6% rise in IT hiring activity in the power industry in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

August 2022 has seen an increase of 6.56% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 15.05% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2022, registering a decrease of 0.96% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Asia-Pacific with a share of 55.24% in August 2022, a 4.84% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 18.13% in August 2022, marking a 28.09% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 11.9% in August 2022, a 13.51% rise from July 2022.

Top five power companies in Asia-Pacific’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 13.04% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Asia-Pacific’s power industry during August 2022 over previous month.

Siemens posted 91 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered a decline of 19.47% over the previous month, followed by Schneider Electric with 67 jobs and a 415.38% growth. Siemens Energy with 52 IT jobs and Clearway Energy with 13 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 13.33% drop, respectively, while Vestas Wind Systems recorded an 83.33% decline with 11 job postings during August 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Asia-Pacific’s power industry

India commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 70.25% share in August 2022, a 34.05% increase over July 2022. Australia featured next with an 8.78% share, down 36.73% over the previous month. China recorded a 5.95% share, a growth of 110% compared with July 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 63.17%, up by 0.9% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 24.93% share, registered a decline of 13.73% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 11.05% share, up 39.29% over July 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.85%, recording a month-on-month growth of 200%.
