Canada’s power industry registered a 17.1% drop in IT hiring activity in November 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.
The industry’s overall hiring is decreased by 13.78% in November 2022 when compared with October 2022.
Out of the power industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed an 8.44% share in November 2022, recording a decrease of 0.09% over the last three-month average share.
Top five job classifications in Canada’s power industry’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022
Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s power industry in November 2022.
1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 38.3% in November 2022, registering a 40% decline over the previous month.
2) Computer and Information Analysts claimed a 34.04% share, an increase of 52.38% over the previous month.
3) Database and Network Administrators and Architects held a share of 12.77%, registering a 55.56% decline from October 2022.
4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 10.64%, flat growth over the previous month.
Top five power companies in Canada’s IT recruitment activity in November 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 27.55% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Canada’s power industry during November 2022 over October 2022.
Algonquin Power & Utilities posted 26 IT jobs in November 2022 and registered a drop of 16.13% over the previous month, followed by Stem with 24 jobs and a 36.84% drop. eQ-3 with 9 IT jobs and Peak Power with 7 jobs, recorded a 12.5% growth and a 46.15% decrease, respectively, while Siemens recorded a decline of 37.5% with 5 job postings during November 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in November 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 80.85%, down by 32.14% from October 2022. Mid Level positions with a 14.89% share, registered a decline of 33.33% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with a 4.26% share, down 20% over October 2022.
