August 2022 has seen a decrease of 3.11% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2022.
IT jobs accounted for an 8.02% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2022, registering an increase of 0.34% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in Middle East & Africa with a share of 31.82% in August 2022, a 36.36% drop over the previous month. Computer Support Specialists came in next, claiming a share of 27.27% in August 2022, marking a 20% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 27.27% in August 2022, a 50% rise from July 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 100% in the overall IT recruitment activity of Middle East & Africa’s power industry during August 2022 over previous month.
Siemens posted 9 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered an increase of 50% over the previous month, followed by Eskom Holdings SOC with 3 jobs and a 50% growth. Siemens Energy with 2 IT jobs and Schneider Electric with 2 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a flat growth, respectively, while Amentum Services recorded a 100% increase with 2 job postings during August 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in Middle East & Africa’s power industry
South Africa commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 27.27% share in August 2022, a 57.14% decrease over July 2022. Israel featured next with an 18.18% share, up 100% over the previous month. Egypt recorded an 18.18% share, a flat growth compared with July 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 68.18%, up by 15.38% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 13.64% share, registered a decline of 40% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 13.64% share, up 200% over July 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 4.55%, recording a month-on-month decline of 50%.
