July 2022 has seen a decrease of 3.75% in the overall hiring activity when compared with June 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 6.88% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in July 2022, registering an increase of 0.01% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in July 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 29.11% in July 2022, a 10.02% drop over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 25.64% in July 2022, marking a 3.57% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 15.48% in July 2022, a 7.89% drop from June 2022.

Top five power companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in July 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 3.74% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s power industry during July 2022 over previous month.

NextEra Energy posted 148 IT jobs in July 2022 and registered a decline of 7.5% over the previous month, followed by Amentum Services with 77 jobs and a 97.44% growth. Iberdrola with 73 IT jobs and Duquesne Light with 60 jobs, recorded a 305.56% rise and a 60.53% drop, respectively, while Siemens recorded an 8.47% decline with 54 job postings during July 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s power industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 94.47% share in July 2022, a 0.55% increase over June 2022. Canada featured next with a 3.54% share, down 12.73% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 1.25% share, a growth of 54.55% compared with June 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in July 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 50.77%, down by 6.77% from June 2022. Mid Level positions with a 33.68% share, registered a growth of 16.28% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 14.96% share, up 2.01% over June 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.59%, recording a month-on-month decline of 20%.
