Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in May 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 36.41% in May 2022, a 3.84% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 26.01% in May 2022, marking a 17.89% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 15.07% in May 2022, a 21.13% drop from April 2022.

Top five power companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in May 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 9.61% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s power industry during May 2022 over previous month.
Duquesne Light posted 174 IT jobs in May 2022 and registered an increase of 34.88% over the previous month, followed by NextEra Energy with 171 jobs and an 18.96% drop. Siemens with 59 IT jobs and Exelon with 45 jobs, recorded a 1.72% rise and a 15.38% rise, respectively, while Carollo Engineers recorded a flat growth with 30 job postings during May 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s power industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 96.86% share in May 2022, a 2.27% increase over April 2022. Canada featured next with a 2.69% share, up 3.45% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.45% share, a growth of 66.67% compared with April 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in May 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 57.04%, up by 4.43% from April 2022. Mid Level positions with a 25.38% share, registered a decline of 2.75% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 16.68% share, up 3.91% over April 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.9%, recording a month-on-month growth of 11.11%.
