March 2022 has seen an increase of 2.48% in the overall hiring activity when compared with February 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 7.61% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in March 2022, registering a decrease of 0.14% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in March 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 48.48% in March 2022, a 17.04% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 16.04% in March 2022, marking a 28.86% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Miscellaneous Computer Occupations with a share of 14.06% in March 2022, a 4.61% rise from February 2022.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 13.78% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s power industry during March 2022 over previous month.
NextEra Energy posted 132 IT jobs in March 2022 and registered an increase of 14.78% over the previous month, followed by Siemens with 125 jobs and a 3.1% drop. Schneider Electric with 83 IT jobs and Exelon with 75 jobs, recorded a 16.9% rise and a 63.04% rise, respectively, while Xcel Energy recorded a 2.63% increase with 39 job postings during March 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s power industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 96.66% share in March 2022, a 14.78% increase over February 2022. Canada featured next with a 2.54% share, flat growth over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.68% share, a growth of 120% compared with February 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in March 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 50.53%, up by 14.93% from February 2022. Mid Level positions with a 32.45% share, registered a growth of 26.88% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 16.53% share, down 4.3% over February 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.5%, recording a month-on-month growth of 14.29%.
