September 2022 has seen an increase of 1.3% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2022.
IT jobs accounted for a 7.31% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2022, registering an increase of 0.36% over the last three-month average share.
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2022
Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 34.54% in September 2022, a 23.87% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 24.84% in September 2022, marking a 12.06% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 21.86% in September 2022, a 12.4% rise from August 2022.

Top five power companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022
The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 23.12% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s power industry during September 2022 over previous month.
Sunrun posted 160 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered an increase of 14.29% over the previous month, followed by Duquesne Light with 140 jobs and a 32.08% growth. Stem with 133 IT jobs and NextEra Energy with 133 jobs, recorded a 137.5% rise and a 15.82% drop, respectively, while Siemens recorded a 23.61% increase with 89 job postings during September 2022.
Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s power industry
The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 91.04% share in September 2022, an 8.63% increase over August 2022. Canada featured next with an 8.65% share, up 68.37% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.21% share, a drop of 42.86% compared with August 2022.
Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022
Junior Level jobs held a share of 51.36%, up by 22.04% from August 2022. Entry Level positions with a 24.16% share, registered a growth of 11.89% compared with the previous month.
In the third place was Mid Level job ads with 23.85% share, down 5.41% over August 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.63%, recording a month-on-month decline of 14.29%.
