North America witnessed a 4.4% rise in IT hiring activity in the power industry in August 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

August 2022 has seen an increase of 1.91% in the overall hiring activity when compared with July 2022.

IT jobs accounted for a 7.07% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in August 2022, registering an increase of 0.17% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in August 2022

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 30.87% in August 2022, a 24.49% rise over the previous month. Database and Network Administrators and Architects came in next, claiming a share of 24.29% in August 2022, marking a 10.34% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 21.76% in August 2022, a 65.38% rise from July 2022.

Miscellaneous Computer Occupations registered a share of 12.4% in August 2022, a 12% rise over the previous month.

Top five power companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in August 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 63.91% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s power industry during August 2022 over previous month.

NextEra Energy posted 154 IT jobs in August 2022 and registered an increase of 4.05% over the previous month, followed by Sunrun with 123 jobs and a 6050% growth. Duquesne Light with 90 IT jobs and Iberdrola with 72 jobs, recorded a 50% rise and a 1.37% drop, respectively, while American Electric PowerInc recorded a 194.74% increase with 56 job postings during August 2022.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s power industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 93.55% share in August 2022, a 15.46% increase over July 2022. Canada featured next with a 5.69% share, up 104.55% over the previous month. France recorded a 0.38% share, a drop of 40% compared with July 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in August 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 46.49%, up by 7.14% from July 2022. Mid Level positions with a 29.22% share, registered a growth of 1.54% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 23.4% share, up 82.27% over July 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 0.89%, recording a month-on-month growth of 75%.
