September 2021 has seen an increase of 4.77% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 7.7% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering an increase of 0.26% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in North America with a share of 46.6% in September 2021, a 5.12% rise over the previous month. Miscellaneous Computer Occupations came in next, claiming a share of 17.48% in September 2021, marking an 11.68% month-on-month increase. In the third place was Database and Network Administrators and Architects with a share of 14.26% in September 2021, a 6.56% rise from August 2021.

Top five power companies in North America’s IT recruitment activity in September 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 17.07% in the overall IT recruitment activity of North America’s power industry during September 2021 over previous month.

NextEra Energy posted 252 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered an increase of 73.79% over the previous month, followed by PG&E with 68 jobs and a 17.24% growth. Siemens with 66 IT jobs and Schneider Electric with 54 jobs, recorded a 35.29% drop and a 10% drop, respectively, while Xcel Energy recorded a 7.84% decline with 47 job postings during September 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in North America’s power industry

The US commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 96.34% share in September 2021, a 4.77% increase over August 2021. Canada featured next with a 3% share, down 22.64% over the previous month. Mexico recorded a 0.66% share, a growth of 80% compared with August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 48.21%, down by 4.91% from August 2021. Mid Level positions with a 31.89% share, registered a growth of 14.74% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 19.39% share, up 10.42% over August 2021, while Senior postings accounted for 0.51%, recording a month-on-month growth of 250%.
