Portugal’s power industry registered a 1.2% rise in IT hiring activity in October 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 1.71% in October 2022 when compared with September 2022.

Out of the power industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 20.38% share in October 2022, recording an increase of 0.31% over the last three-month average share.

Top five job classifications in Portugal’s power industry’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

Out of the total job titles, the top five roles commanded a 100% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Portugal’s power industry in October 2022.

1) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers recorded a share of 45.95% in October 2022, registering a 34.62% decline over the previous month.

2) Database and Network Administrators and Architects claimed a 35.14% share, an increase of 44.44% over the previous month.

3) Miscellaneous Computer Occupations held a share of 10.81%, registering a 33.33% decline from September 2022.

4) Computer and Information Analysts captured a share of 5.41%, down 50% over the previous month.

Top five power companies in Portugal’s IT recruitment activity in October 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 16.28% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of Portugal’s power industry during October 2022 over September 2022.

Siemens posted 18 IT jobs in October 2022 and registered a drop of 21.74% over the previous month, followed by Energias de Portugal with 9 jobs and a 50% growth. Nordex with 4 IT jobs and Vestas Wind Systems with 4 jobs, recorded a flat growth and a 55.56% decrease, respectively, while Voltalia recorded a flat growth with 1 job postings during October 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in October 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 59.46%, down by 38.89% from September 2022. Entry Level positions with a 21.62% share, registered an increase of 166.67% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with an 18.92% share, flat growth over September 2022.
