September 2021 has seen a decrease of 12.02% in the overall hiring activity when compared with August 2021.

IT jobs accounted for an 11.58% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in September 2021, registering a decrease of 2.97% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in September 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 46.07% in September 2021, a 9.28% drop over the previous month. Computer and Information Analysts came in next, claiming a share of 22.51% in September 2021, marking a 21.82% month-on-month decline. In the third place was Computer Support Specialists with a share of 17.28% in September 2021, a 43.1% drop from August 2021.

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average decline of 22.82% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s power industry during September 2021 over previous month.

Companhia de Transmissao de Energia Eletrica Paulista posted 160 IT jobs in September 2021 and registered a decline of 17.95% over the previous month, followed by Enel with 12 jobs and a 40% drop. Energisa with 7 IT jobs and Iberdrola with 5 jobs, recorded a 66.67% drop and a flat growth, respectively, while The AES recorded a flat growth with 2 job postings during September 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s power industry

Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 91.62% share in September 2021, a 25.21% decrease over August 2021. Argentina featured next with a 4.71% share, up 12.5% over the previous month. Chile recorded a 2.09% share, a growth of 100% compared with August 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 75.39%, down by 17.71% from August 2021. Entry Level positions with an 18.32% share, registered a decline of 23.91% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Mid Level job ads with a 6.28% share, down 50% over August 2021.
