South & Central America witnessed a 25.7% drop in IT hiring activity in the power industry in December 2021 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics dashboard.

December 2021 has seen a decrease of 12.28% in the overall hiring activity when compared with November 2021.

IT jobs accounted for a 3.28% share in the industry’s total hiring activity in December 2021, registering a decrease of 0.97% over the last three-month average share.

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations leads by classification in December 2021

Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers Occupations emerged as the leading IT occupation in South & Central America with a share of 50% in December 2021, a 36.84% drop over the previous month. Computer Support Specialists came in next, claiming a share of 20.83% in December 2021, marking a flat month-on-month increase. In the third place was Computer and Information Analysts with a share of 16.67% in December 2021, a 300% rise from November 2021.

Database and Network Administrators and Architects registered a share of 8.33% in December 2021, a flat growth over the previous month.

Top five power companies in South & Central America’s IT recruitment activity in December 2021

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, accounted for a combined average growth of 40% in the overall IT recruitment activity of South & Central America’s power industry during December 2021 over previous month.

Energisa posted 10 IT jobs in December 2021 and registered a flat growth over the previous month, followed by CPFL Energia with 6 jobs and a 500% growth. Enel with 3 IT jobs and Vestas Wind Systems with 1 jobs, recorded a 200% rise and a 50% drop, respectively, while The AES recorded a flat growth with 1 job postings during December 2021.

Country-wise composition of IT hiring in South & Central America’s power industry

Brazil commanded a leading presence in the region’s power industry IT hiring activity with a 79.17% share in December 2021, a 5.56% increase over November 2021. Argentina featured next with an 8.33% share, down 33.33% over the previous month. Chile recorded an 8.33% share, a drop of 33.33% compared with November 2021.

Junior Level job postings dominate in December 2021

Junior Level jobs held a share of 91.67%, flat growth from November 2021. Entry Level positions with an 8.33% share, registered a decline of 71.43% compared with the previous month.
